"Information's pretty thin stuff unless mixed with experience."Clarence Day
Meet the team that makes our work possible
There’s no shortage of consultants that claim to understand information security and privacy. But few have the knowledge and experience that our team can bring to your project.
All of our consultants are information security professionals with extensive real world experience across both the public and private sector.
What’s more, they’re also real people with real life interests outside of the office. Just like you. Given how much time we spend at our computers, that might just be a surprise to some people!

Since I first encountered a hacker in an IT system I was responsible for nearly 3 decades ago, I have been working with clients to help them understand and manage the risks to which the information systems supporting their businesses are exposed.
As a keen cyclist for many years, I still enjoy the rush of a fast downhill either on or off-road. I also enjoy time with my children and grandchildren, walking, sailing, dabbling with electronics and making my own bread, cheese, beer and wine.

I’m passionate about delivering high-quality pragmatic advice that supports and enables our clients to achieve their business goals and objectives. I love talking to people about what they are trying to accomplish and helping them make it happen.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, playing guitar, watching rugby and movies, reading and drinking the occasional craft beer.

I believe that security done well can help our clients balance the trade-off between new and exciting opportunities and the risk for their businesses. Professionally, I thrive on solving big hairy problems.
Outside of work, I’m kept busy with my family (my lovely wife, three kids, two cats and a dog), woodworking, the occasional tramping trip and a perpetual cycle of home DIY.

Information security is an evolving and exciting industry but for people whose core focus is not in security it can be difficult to keep up with all the change. I am passionate about people and information security and aim to deliver real value and outcomes for your company.
My time outside of work is spent with my wonderful family and our friends. I love to read, listen to music, and love all things fitness.
Since kicking off my marketing career with the Sydney Olympics back in 2000 I have been working with companies helping to deliver marketing strategies that are customer focused. I am particularly interested in Digital Marketing and I lecture for the NZ Marketing Association for their Certificate in Digital Marketing course.
When I’m not banging on about marketing - my family and young kids keeps me busy. I enjoy coaching their sports including rugby and have even been known to play the odd game myself now and again. I love to get out on the South Coast for a dive or a surf when time/weather permits.
I believe that the key to good security is to assess and manage technical risks within the business context. I like working on projects that require a mix of both business and technical skills, particularly if they involve incident management or industrial control systems.
I enjoy spending time with my family and like making new friends. The only thing that competes with my passion for squash and motorcycles is information security.
I like to take the time to understand context of the client so that the security services I deliver will meet their outcomes, as I don’t believe that security should be reduced to a tick-in-the-box exercise.
I enjoy playing football, watching sports with my cat (go the Hurricanes!), spending hours war gaming with my friends, and tinkering with computers and cars.
I am a keen advocate of practical and realistic security advice, as my experience in security has shown that one size does not fit all. My desire is to help clients achieve their objectives, by producing quality, timely deliverables.
I have a passion for football, and living in New Zealand means I can often be found watching Liverpool FC at some crazy time of the morning. I also enjoy reading historical fiction and exploring this beautiful country with my family.
I believe the fundamentals of good information security, now more than ever, are important across both public and private sectors. For me the key is helping our clients to understand and apply security principles to benefit their business and give them confidence in their security decisions.
I’m a bit of a planner, so I like to have a few home projects on the go at any one time. I enjoy listening to a range of music, reading, binge watching TV episodes, gaming, and also a bit of sewing.
Information is the lifeblood of the world. People need unadulterated, accurate and timely information to be able to make sound decisions, whether they be at work or play. I’m fascinated by how organisations use information to achieve their objectives. To understand the value of information across its lifecycle, and so to be able to determine its requisite protection and governance, is gratifying.
As a keen birdwatcher and naturalist, I can often be found hanging around Zealandia looking for hihi or kaka, or tramping around the Kaikoura peninsula hoping to catch a glimpse of toroa or a Hutton’s shearwater. I’m very interested in science, history & new ideas, and love Asian food & New Zealand wines.
I am strong disbeliever of the one-size-fits-all approach to information security. I trust that spending enough time with clients, to understand their requirements and business objectives, is key to effective security management.
I love my work, but outside of that, you’d usually find me listening to music or playing the guitar. I also enjoy sports and fitness. My other favourite pastimes include traveling, eating good food and drinking fine whiskey with my partner, friends, and family.
Information Security is an interesting, challenging and a fast-growing industry to be in. I work closely with our clients to understand their requirements and help them improve their security posture. I want them to sleep at night knowing they have done something to secure their systems.
I’m into fitness and healthy eating, binge-watching mystery thriller TV series and have a strong desire to travel the world.
I developed a strong interest in Information Security during my time at Victoria University and it has kept developing ever since then. I’m very customer focused, love problem solving and being challenged. I can’t wait to see where my career at Axenic takes me.
When I’m not working you can find me with my head in a book, doing the Code Cracker in the newspaper, on some outdoor exploration or just spending time with the people I love in my life. Next to my goals to expand my information security career, a few of my others are to scratch as many countries off my map as I can, become a better cook and to learn to knit beanies for babies at the Neonatal Ward.
I believe that the key to good security advice is to work closely with our clients and speak a common language that makes it easier for everyone to see what’s working and what’s not. When it comes to information security, I love the fact that I can learn something new every day and be creative at addressing problems and challenges.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing football, watching movies, listening to music and occasionally adding new gear to my home gym without breaking the bank. I am also passionate about cooking and enjoy making a variety of dishes for my friends and family – I see myself as a foodie who can’t get enough of food blogs and cooking shows.
As an intern at Axenic, I am excited at the chance to gain experience in the world of information security, and to apply and further develop the skills and knowledge I have obtained at University. I have a keen interest in information security projects involving both business and technical skills.
When I’m not at work, I can usually be found up a mountainside taking photographs, out riding my skateboard, or at home knitting a pair of socks.
I'm currently completing my studies in the UK and will be returning to Axenic in 2019.
