"Information's pretty thin stuff unless mixed with experience."Clarence Day
Meet the team that makes our work possible
There’s no shortage of consultants that claim to understand information security and privacy. But few have the knowledge and experience that our team can bring to your project.
All of our consultants are information security professionals with extensive real world experience across both the public and private sector.
What’s more, they’re also real people with real life interests outside of the office. Just like you. Given how much time we spend at our computers, that might just be a surprise to some people!
Director | Consulting Partner
Since I first encountered a hacker in an IT system I was responsible for over 3 decades ago, I have been working with clients to help them understand and manage the risks to which the information systems supporting their businesses are exposed.
As a keen cyclist for many years, I still enjoy the rush of a fast downhill either on or off-road. I also enjoy time with my children and grandchildren, walking, sailing, dabbling with electronics and making my own bread, cheese, beer and wine.

When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, playing guitar, watching rugby and movies, reading and drawing.

I believe that security done well can help our clients balance the trade-off between new and exciting opportunities and the risk for their businesses. Professionally, I thrive on solving big hairy problems.
Outside of work, I’m kept busy with my family (my lovely wife, three kids and two dogs), woodworking, coaching my kids football team and a perpetual cycle of home DIY.

My role at Axenic combines my love of people, process and business management, and allows me to work in a team filled with passionate, knowledgeable and motivated people.
Outside of work I love spending time with my wonderful family and friends. I am a regular gym goer, to offset my interest in cooking and wine. I’m a keen traveller and explorer and always like to have a new adventure on the radar.
Since kicking off my marketing career with the Sydney Olympics back in 2000 I have been working with companies helping to deliver marketing strategies that are customer focused. I am particularly interested in Digital Marketing and I lecture for the NZ Marketing Association for their Certificate in Digital Marketing course.
When I’m not banging on about marketing - my family and young kids keeps me busy. I enjoy coaching their sports including rugby and have even been known to play the odd game myself now and again. I love to get out on the South Coast for a dive or a surf when time/weather permits.
Information security is an evolving and exciting industry but for people whose core focus is not in security it can be difficult to keep up with all the change. I am passionate about people and information security and aim to deliver real value and outcomes for your company.
My time outside of work is spent with my wonderful family and our friends. I love to read, listen to music, and love all things fitness.
I'm currently on maternity leave and will be returning to Axenic in 2020.
I am passionate about delivering great outcomes to our diverse client portfolio. My role is to facilitate and project manage the engagements delivered by our team.
If I’m not out and about chasing sunsets with my partner trying to get the perfect photo, I’m sat by the fire listening to music; enjoying a glass of pinot & a carefully crafted cheeseboard. I spend every Sunday evening with my close-knit family and like to fill my weekends up with concerts & shows.
I am excited to be a part of the Axenic team and look forward to adding value to our customer engagements. I believe communication is the key to a positive customer experience, and allows us to deliver great outcomes and streamlined services.
Outside of the office I have a passion for music and sports. I learnt the piano from an early age and still play semi-professionally as a freelance keyboardist. I also coach my son’s junior rugby team and have been for a few years. I love coaching young kids, watching them develop their skills, and having fun. My large family is very important to me. They keep me busy, especially my wife and three kids.
I like to take the time to understand context of the client so that the security services I deliver will meet their outcomes, as I don’t believe that security should be reduced to a tick-in-the-box exercise.
I enjoy playing football, watching sports with my cat (go the Hurricanes!), spending hours war gaming with my friends, and tinkering with computers and cars.
I am a keen advocate of practical and realistic security advice, as my experience in security has shown that one size does not fit all. My desire is to help clients achieve their objectives, by producing quality, timely deliverables.
I have a passion for football, and living in New Zealand means I can often be found watching Liverpool FC at some crazy time of the morning. I also enjoy reading historical fiction and exploring this beautiful country with my family.
I believe the fundamentals of good information security, now more than ever, are important across both public and private sectors. For me the key is helping our clients to understand and apply security principles to benefit their business and give them confidence in their security decisions.
I’m a bit of a planner, so I like to have a few home projects on the go at any one time. I enjoy listening to a range of music, reading, binge watching TV episodes, gaming, and also a bit of sewing.
Great information security is a combination of many factors – understanding risk, knowing your organisational goals and using the right business and technical tools. This will ensure practical and real-world security is embedded throughout your organisation. As a Senior Consultant with Axenic, my job is to help you achieve this.
After hours you can always find me with my wife and kids, either enjoying food, snuggling up to a movie or a good book or tinkering with a new piece of computer code or graphics. When blessed with good weather I enjoy the outdoors whether it is just a barbecue or exploring any piece of nature NZ can provide, letting the adventure choose me.
With information becoming such an important part of everyone’s lives, we need to go to great lengths to protect it. I take pride in knowing I am able to protect the information of our clients through my work. Working in security has been a passion for much of the past decade, with building knowledge and educating others a priority for the future.
Outside work I love spending time with my wife and two daughters, playing badminton or running calories off (acquired through my other passion, eating!). A Mechanical Engineer by education, I also enjoy tinkering with everything from my kids’ toys and stuff around the house, to the classic Volkswagen Beetle I have back in my hometown.
I believe that security needs to be delivered using a strategically focused approach. Each business or organisation has its own individual values and appetite for risk, and this needs to be reflected in the application of security. I like to work with customers to understand what is important to them and to help them tailor an approach to security that, in the words of Goldilocks - is not too little, not too much – it’s just right.
When I’m not at work I enjoy going to concerts, listening to music and reading; and spending time at home alongside my wife, two cats and a very large rabbit. I’m also a keen exerciser with plenty of gadgets to measure every possible variable.
I am a firm believer that information security can be a positive force multiplier in business. I enjoy helping clients see the big picture of security and demonstrating how it can enhance business strengths, while reducing risk.
I spend much of my free time with my wife Veronica exploring the cities and countryside. Fishing, homebrewing beer and tinkering with electronics are also big interests of mine, and we are always on the quest for new or unique dining experiences . In my home country (USA), I had a small farm where I raised pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, pheasants and quail.
I believe the right balance of security principles underpinned by an understanding of risk and operability is the best way to help clients meet their desired outcomes. For me the key is to understand our clients and to help them understand, develop and implement integral information security throughout their organisation.
After hours, I can be found living life with my family, whether we are watching media, making media, playing games, travelling, hiking or even roleplaying together.
I believe that the key to good security advice is to work closely with our clients and speak a common language that makes it easier for everyone to see what’s working and what’s not. When it comes to information security, I love the fact that I can learn something new every day and be creative at addressing problems and challenges.
Outside of work, I enjoy playing football, watching movies, listening to music and occasionally adding new gear to my home gym without breaking the bank. I am also passionate about cooking and enjoy making a variety of dishes for my friends and family – I see myself as a foodie who can’t get enough of food blogs and cooking shows.
I developed a strong interest in Information Security during my time at Victoria University and it has kept developing ever since then. I’m very customer focused, love problem solving and being challenged. I can’t wait to see where my career at Axenic takes me.
When I’m not working you can find me with my head in a book, doing the Code Cracker in the newspaper, on some outdoor exploration or just spending time with the people I love in my life. Next to my goals to expand my information security career, a few of my others are to scratch as many countries off my map as I can, become a better cook and to learn to knit beanies for babies at the Neonatal Ward.
As a recent University graduate, I have a keen interest in all areas of information security, ranging from risk and assurance to enterprise security architecture. I enjoy working on projects that challenge me, and look forward to applying my mix of business and technical knowledge to help solve problems in the ever-changing information security landscape.
When I'm not at work, I can usually be found up a mountainside taking photographs, out riding my skateboard, or at home knitting a pair of socks.
