Last week Michael Price, Ahmed ElAshmawy and Chris Blunt from Axenic were fortunate enough to make the trip across the Tasman to Sydney for the 2nd annual COSAC APAC Security Conference. All 3 had the chance to speak to the attendees and without any bias, Michael shares his take on the Top Talk and some other notable mentions.
Secure wiping of devices and media during their disposal processes is a standard security control that we recommend to our clients. There have been a number of examples of how failure to wipe hard drives prior to disposal has resulted in embarrassment to individuals or organisations.
After taking a one-year hiatus, Kiwicon was back in Wellington a couple of weekends ago (16/17 November). Held at the Michael Fowler Centre – the event this year attracted around 2100 “Computer nerds, geeks, and people who think Lego is awesome*” with tickets selling out in three days. The entire team from Axenic managed to get in early and secure tickets to this high demand event.
My name is Camille. I’m 23 years old and I recently graduated from Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Commerce with a Major in Information Systems.
I consider myself lucky that I got a ‘job job’ (a word I define as a job in the industry you spend years at university aspiring to get) shortly after university. I consider myself luckier that I got a job at Axenic. Information Security was always an interest of mine at university and I’m happy I chose to pursue it.
